Casper And Leesa Continue Their Stupendous Growth By Raising Funds And Launching New Products

Casper and Leesa are the ideal poster children for the online mattress industry.

They’re everything the traditional mattress industry isn’t:Convenient, easy and affordable.

Both companies sell high-quality foam mattresses at a reasonable price (less than ). Both offer generous in-home warranties and trial periods, and they are delivered in a small box to customers.

However, online mattress brands are bringing the online heat to traditional mattress giants.Serta SimmonsAndTempur Sealy International.Nest Bedding, Saatva, and PurpleThese are the most well-known online startups.

However, Casper and Leesa are the dominant disruptors in the marketplace.Memory foam mattresses at a budget price.

Both companies recently raised funds and announced new products and deals to sell their mattresses in-store at major retailers. They also started expanding internationally.

The question is no longer whether foam mattresses can be used with the bed-in a box model. It works.

Now the question is: Which one of these startups will claim the lion’s part?

Casper was founded in 2013 and has sold over a million of its bedding products in 2016. It is now valued at almost a billion dollars. They are expected to file for an IPO soon.

Leesa was founded just one year after Casper. It is expected that the company will generate more than a million dollars in annual revenue. To fund their aggressive expansion, they recently raised an additional million from investors.

All-foam mattresses can be found in the Casper and Leesa mattresses.

Three foam layers make up the Leesa mattress: 5 cm Avena foam, 5 cm memory foam, and 15 cm support foam. The cover is made of breathable, quilted polyester fabric and lycra fabric.

The Casper mattress is made up of four layers: 4cm of poly foam, 4cm of memory foam and another 4cm layer of poly foam. There are also 13cm foundational foam.

The cover is made of 100% polyester and is breathable and soft.

These are not luxury mattresses, just to be clear. These mattresses are not as luxurious as the Saatva mattress with its Euro Pillow top, pocketed coils, and a higher price.

They are both extremely comfortable and customers love them. They don’t sleep hot, provide excellent support and great pressure relief.

According to us, theLeesa mattresses offer a significantly better overall experience when it comes to sleeping.. The top Avena foam layer appears to provide better support and contouring than the Casper’s top poly foam layer.

Although we don’t have any proof, it seems that Casper added another layer to Leeesa after its launch. It originally had three layers. This was done in order to improve their quality.

Market Share

It’s difficult to know how much market share Leesa or Casper have because they are private companies. Experts speculate that Casper may be worth billions of dollars.

Casper’s 2016 revenue was more than twice that of Leesas (million vs. millions).

However, the competition between them is only heating up.

Casper appears to be sticking to its single-product strategy. It is banking on its reputation as an innovative, affordable and high-quality mattress brand.

Leesa on the other side seems to be betting on product variety and their image as investors into social good.

Beyond The Internet

Although their official websites remain the most important selling portals for Casper & Leesa, both have recently taken steps towards increasing their physical presence in brick and mortar shops.

Casper’s boldest move was when it entered into acquisition negotiations with Target. Target was to purchase the company for billion, and then incorporate their mattresses into their stores both online and offline.

After the talks collapsed,Target instead invested millions in the company. Now,Target stores will soon stock Casper mattress.

Leesa has replaced Casper at West Elm. This is an upscale furniture and home decor retailer.. Leesa mattresses are soon available in West Elm stores for testing.

Operation Countries

Casper is the most aggressive in international expansion. They have also operations in Canada, Austria, Germany, and the United States.

Leesa follows closely. They recently expanded into the UK, Canada, and Germany. They will soon be able to expand internationally with their latest funding round.

Both of these fast-growing brands will likely take large chunks of the rapidly growing bed-in-a box market.

Both have done everything to raise funds, launch new products, expand internationally, and market aggressively in order to win customers.

Both companies are expected to launch more products over the next few years while maintaining their affordability and convenience.
